Hicks had initially intended to buy a different lottery ticket, but since that ticket was unavailable, he decided to try his luck with Extreme Cash.
After claiming his prize, Hicks chose a lump sum payout of $600,000, which netted him $429,007 after taxes, marking a significant change for his retirement.
