Each year, NORAD provides 'real-time' tracking of Santa starting at 6 a.m. ET on Christmas Eve, when he leaves the North Pole to deliver gifts.
The tradition of Santa tracking dates back to 1955, initiated when a child mistakenly called a military command center, leading to an annual custom of monitoring Santa's journey.
Families can track Santa through various modern platforms including the NORAD Tracks Santa app, Instagram, Amazon Alexa, and they can even call 1-877-HI-NORAD to speak to him.
At this writing, Santa had already delivered over 2.6 billion gifts, and his journey can be tracked on the NORAD website with a detailed interactive map.
