Non-Americans Are Sharing What's Wrong With American Politics
Briefly

How much money has proliferated it. The fact that guns have gotten out of control, but common sense gun laws can't be enacted because of the NRA. The same with overturning Roe v Wade. Most people want access to abortion to be legal, but money and support from Evangelical churches/institutions have made politicians act to criminalize it, even though most of the population doesn't actually support that. It's literally the opposite of a democracy, no?
I live here in Australia, where we have strict gun rules, universal health care, and a good standard of living. I look at the US and think they should and could be better than they are, but to vote in Trump? I find that sad that they did not learn from the first round of him. Why on god's earth would you want to punish yourselves with another four years of the hell he is going to put you through?
I'm American but lived abroad for over 15 years, and I'm a dual citizen of an EU country. The biggest issue I see is the two-party system. There is no nuance besides side A or side B. If you vote for this side, you must be XYZ, and therefore, a terrible, evil person, and therefore, I should cut you off completely. Nobody can or is willing to discuss or consider other points of view on anything. Whereas most European countries have multiple parties, which have to form blocs or coalitions in order to get anything done.
Compromise, nuance, critical thought. All of that is lacking from American politics and even discussing it is shunned. The polarization in political views causes societal rifts that prevent people from coming together for the common good.
