New hybrid digital CCTV for Bexley to improve safety and tackle crime
Briefly

On January 23, a cabinet meeting approved a new digital CCTV initiative aimed at addressing serious crimes such as violence, robbery, and sexual assault. The upgraded system combines fixed and mobile cameras to enhance surveillance capabilities, as the existing analogue setup, established in 2009, has become inadequate. The new technology promises significantly improved image quality and operational efficiency, with input from local residents and law enforcement shaping its design. The initiative seeks to maintain Bexley’s low crime rate and ensures a proactive approach to community safety.
With that in mind and taking the vast improvements to technology since the last contract was commissioned into consideration, we have decided to invest in a smarter CCTV system that will deliver greater impact in keeping our residents safe.
This will enable us to target the places where cameras are most needed. It will give us increased flexibility and greater precision in image quality.
