"Allied fighter jets were scrambled overnight as Russia launched one their largest attacks since the war started. The city of Lviv was hit in the worst attack to date and is 43 miles from the Polish border. Lviv was hit with "thunderous strikes" over a five-hour period and residents were told to "remain indoors." Russia fired hypersonic missiles, Kinzhal dagger missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles and guided aerial bombs. Russian long-range nuclear capable bombers, Tu95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers launched conventional missiles."
"Poland's Operation Command wrote on X, "To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures. "Polish and allied aircraft are intensively operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness." They insisted this was purely done as "preventative in nature" and it is not believed that Russian aircraft or aerial objects entered Polish airspace."
Lviv in western Ukraine endured the worst attack to date, suffering thunderous strikes across a five-hour period and widespread fires while residents were ordered to remain indoors. The assault used hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, guided aerial bombs and strikes launched from Tu-95MS and Tu-160 long-range bombers firing conventional missiles. Allied fighter jets were scrambled overnight and Poland activated full air-defense procedures, intensifying aircraft operations and raising radar and ground-based defenses to highest readiness. Polish authorities described actions as preventative and said no Russian aircraft were believed to have entered Polish airspace.
