In a video shared by the US Department of Defense, German pilot 1st Lt. Alexander Grant and American pilot Capt. Patrick Pearce discussed their battle and the differences between their Eurofighter and F-35 jets, showcasing their maneuvers with paper planes.
The event was the first one-on-one competition of its kind hosted by the US Air Force in Europe, enabling NATO's pilots to test their skills against unfamiliar aircraft and learn about Allied equipment and tactics.
Pearce explained they'd been given a slip of paper detailing a location in the air before engaging in a dogfight, which highlighted the planned yet spontaneous nature of aerial combat.
Grant expressed awe, saying, 'I've never seen an F-35 so close,' reflecting on the unique experience of facing off against a different aircraft during training.
