National school parents' group stripped of charity status after rows over state finance and representation

The National Parents Council Post Primary (NPCPP) faced funding withdrawal after a governance review raised serious concerns about spending and practices, ultimately leading to its shutdown.

Following a governance review, the NPCPP was stripped of recognition and funding by the Department of Education, which had previously disbursed around €250,000 annually to the organization.

The NPCPP lost its charitable status and was under investigation for financial mismanagement, including payments made to relatives of senior managers, prompting multiple inquiries.

The NPCPP continued to operate without recognition from the Department of Education until early 2023 when it entered liquidation, marking the end of its existence.
