Names of 240 journalists killed by Israel in Gaza read out at Dublin protest

A Dublin protest followed an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital in Gaza that killed five journalists, including staff from The Associated Press, Al Jazeera, Reuters and Middle East Eye. The event came weeks after Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif and four colleagues were killed while sheltering outside al-Shifa hospital on August 10. Reporters and photographers at the National Union of Journalists event read the names of more than 240 Palestinian journalists killed. Dozens of Irish media photographers, broadcasters and correspondents attended. NUJ representatives condemned the killings, called the Israeli record an indictment, and demanded a ceasefire. The Irish president criticised the EU's "lethargic" response and questioned how many had died since humanitarian measures were proposed.
We gather in anger, we gather in sorrow. But above all else we gather in solidarity, solidarity with those who have been murdered because they were journalists.
