"What we think is it started as some sort of Picatinny Arsenal base surveillance drill or operation but once it exploded online this became a copycat situation," the anonymous chief theorized.
"We have a hard time believing it. It's like when you get a bomb threat, but now everyone is calling them in," the chief commented about the escalation.
"I have guys who legitimately think it's aliens," noted another police chief, reflecting the diverse theories circulating among officials on the drones' origins.
