Myanmar military extends state of emergency for another six months
Briefly

Myanmar's military has prolonged its state of emergency for an additional six months, as instability persists in the aftermath of the 2021 coup. Following a meeting of the National Defence and Security Council, the military cited the need for greater stability and peace ahead of upcoming national elections. This decision underscores the increasing challenges faced by the government as fighting continues across the nation and pro-democracy protests are met with harsh responses from the military regime. The extension reflects the military's struggle to maintain control amid ongoing turmoil.
