MVRDV Begins Construction on the EU TUMO Convergence Center in Yerevan, Armenia

"A 120-meter-long monolithic bar rests on a recessed base podium, cantilevering over steep slopes at either end. Large windows on both ends frame views north toward the Hrazdan River and south toward Mount Ararat, traditionally associated with Noah's Ark. The podium elevates the structure for greater visibility and extends the adjacent Tumanyan Park, while terraces and outdoor circulation areas integrate the rocky landscape into the site."

The EU TUMO Convergence Center is a five-story educational and research facility designed by MVRDV in Tumanyan Park, Yerevan, Armenia. Construction began on 24 February with international participation. The building expands TUMO's network from its main campus to 25 centers across Armenia and internationally, including Paris, Tirana, Berlin, and Mumbai. The facility combines free technology and creative education for teenagers and adults with research spaces, co-working areas, and start-up support. The architectural design features a 120-meter monolithic bar cantilevering over steep slopes, organized around two central cores and three large atriums. Large windows frame views toward the Hrazdan River Gorge and Mount Ararat, while the podium extends Tumanyan Park and integrates the rocky landscape through terraces and outdoor circulation areas.
