The Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI) will honor Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a Family Day dedicated to his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement, featuring talks, tours, and digital media activities that encourage conflict resolution.
Visitors are invited to join a thoughtful conversation with teen advocates about conflict resolution with Urban Upbound, and participate in creative activities like crafting animations and virtual reality drawings.
MoMI's events not only celebrate King’s legacy but also connect visitors to Black history, emphasizing the importance of understanding the relationship between moving image history and the fight for freedom.
In addition to honoring King, MoMI will showcase exhibitions celebrating the 1990s DIY recording era and a winter-themed screening series running throughout January, enriching the cultural context of its programming.
