Motorola's second appeal over AIrwave price cap rejected
Briefly

Motorola has been barred from appealing a price cap imposed by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on its services for emergency communications. This cap aims to reduce costs for over 100 emergency services across the UK by nearly £200 million annually. The Court of Appeal upheld the CMA's decision, marking the end of Motorola's legal challenges against this ruling. The CMA asserted that Motorola had been overcharging UK emergency services by a significant margin, reinforcing the necessity of the price cap for fair market practices.
The CMA's investigations and legal decisions are carefully considered and evidence-led and we welcome today's decision by the Court of Appeal which endorses our reasoning in this case.
Our investigation showed that Motorola had been charging emergency services in the UK £200 million a year more than they would if the market was working well. The Court's judgment today means that our price cap remains in place.
