Minnie Driver reflected on the making of "Grosse Pointe Blank" saying, "The script isn't really that good, and everyone knows it's not really that good, but it's this great idea... so we shot a couple of days and it just wasn't funny..."
Driver credited the decision to improvise with making the film "funnier and funnier and more... rooted in the insanity of the story," allowing the creative process to thrive despite the original script's shortcomings.
