Milpitas: Humane Society of Silicon Valley resumes services after fire, seeks to rebuild building
Briefly

The Humane Society Silicon Valley has resumed adoption services just 48 hours after a fire destroyed half the building, demonstrating resilience but facing challenges in medical facility operations.
Vice President Nancy Willis highlighted that although adoptions have increased, the biggest challenge remains finding a larger space for animal surgeries, which has been temporarily conducted in a mobile unit.
Demolition of the affected areas is set to begin soon, with construction for full repairs projected to take between nine to 13 months, emphasizing the long-term recovery process.
The shelter has successfully facilitated over 84 adoptions shortly after the fire and is actively working on fostering animals to ensure continued placements in homes.
