Milpitas allocates $700,000 to rent relief program

Milpitas has allocated $700,000 of state funds to provide assistance for 140 residents struggling with housing-related costs, including past-due rental payments, eviction and homelessness relief.
Mayor Carmen Montano stated the program was created to ensure residents have the support they deserve and to strengthen the foundation of our community.
Tahmina Martelly from Forward expressed her excitement about the proactive measures taken by Milpitas, emphasizing the importance of municipalities listening to their constituents regarding rising housing costs.
The rent relief program allows eligible Milpitas residents to receive up to $5,000 a year for assistance, with applications open until December 2025.
