A Milford store, Family Sneaker House, was found selling over 1,200 counterfeit sneakers and clothing items, estimated to be worth over $200,000. An investigation initiated by the Milford police followed customer reports of fake products mimicking popular brands like Nike and Adidas. The owner acquired the items from a Chinese distributor, highlighting the global aspect of counterfeit sales. Although major brands did not pursue charges, they commended the police for their efforts against such operations that harm consumers and legitimate businesses alike.
"While this was not a traditional crime indicative of our community, it's important to realize these types of operations are not just taking billions away from these big corporations but more importantly, money out of the wallets of hard-working people."
"Several customers reported fake shoes and clothing items sold at the store. The counterfeit products sold were made to look like brands from Nike, Puma, Adidas, and Yeezy."
