Michael Chandler revealed after his unanimous decision loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 that a first round leg injury severely hindered his performance throughout the fight.
Chandler expressed immense frustration, stating, "I think something happened to the knee in that first exchange... I looked down at my left leg and it was not working right." He described the sensation as "unstable" and difficult to deal with for the majority of the fight.
After the fight, Chandler shared that he experienced severe pain, claiming, "Body, the most pain I've ever been in my entire life. Pee'd blood, inflammation all over, my whole body swollen." His deteriorating condition highlighted the impact of the injury on his performance.
Despite his struggles, Chandler acknowledged Oliveira's skill, stating, "I can't complain too much, as Oliveira won easily," even mentioning that Oliveira fought with his own injury struggles, emphasizing the competitive nature of their bout.
