Met Eireann issues Status Yellow snow, ice, rain and wind warnings for 18 counties as 460,000 customers still without power after Storm Eowyn

Storm Éowyn has wreaked havoc across Ireland, leading to the death of a motorist and leaving about 460,000 customers without power. While ESB Networks has successfully restored power to many households, over 120,000 people are still without water. The aftermath includes efforts by Irish Water to distribute alternative supplies. The impending threat of additional storms next week complicates recovery efforts, with various warnings issued for snow, ice, and heavy rain in several counties, further hampering restoration activities.

ESB Networks acknowledged that "the impact on customers and damage to the electricity network nationwide is unprecedented".

Head of water operations at Irish Water, Margaret Attridge, remarked: "Where we cannot connect up a generator now, we have alternative water supplies in the form of tankers going out."
