Menlo Park moves forward with parking lot plan
Briefly

The Menlo Park City Council has voted to move forward with the development of downtown parking lots into subsidized housing, which could comprise up to 483 apartments. However, there are no specific plans in place yet, and developers will submit proposals for the lots between Oak Grove and Santa Cruz avenues in spring. Principal Planner Tom Smith indicated that the council will review these developer proposals during that season.
During the four-hour discussion, more than 130 members of the public voiced their opinions about the council’s decision regarding the downtown parking lots. The two main groups represented were Save Downtown Menlo Park, opposing the housing project due to concerns from local merchants, and Menlo Together, a housing advocacy group that supports the conversion of the lots into residential units.
