By analyzing various data points, including TV news transcripts and local newspaper content, the study identifies that national media slant can polarize local journalism. The authors employ econometric frameworks and similarity measures to demonstrate how local newspapers replicate the sentiments portrayed in cable news, thus illustrating a notable relationship between these media forms. Findings indicate that local versus national news content shows differentiated responses to media slant, emphasizing the importance of understanding media dynamics in local reporting.
