Mass. animal control officer kills dog he mistook for a coyote
Briefly

"Unfortunately, this dog looks very similar to a coyote, and this was an honest mistake in identity," Northbridge Police Chief Timothy Labrie said, emphasizing the tragic nature of the incident.
"He called out several times as the animal was approaching, and when it got within 10 yards, the animal control officer shot and killed the coyote," Labrie explained, revealing the quick escalation of the situation.
The dog shot and killed Tuesday had a history of getting loose "quite often," Labrie said, highlighting the ongoing issue of stray animals in the area.
Kirk Rumford, the dog's owner, described Odin as "the friendliest dog," stating, "Everybody that met him said he didn't have a mean bone in his body. He's just a big goofball."
