Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder for fatally shooting three football players and wounding two other students at the University of Virginia.
The incident occurred as Jones opened fire on a charter bus filled with students returning to campus, following a trip where they had enjoyed a play and dinner in Washington, D.C.
A witness indicated that Jones had targeted specific victims during the shooting, which resulted in the deaths of football players Lavel Davis Jr., D'Sean Perry, and Devin Chandler.
The shooting prompted a 12-hour lockdown of the University of Virginia campus as law enforcement initiated a manhunt to capture the suspect.
