Manchester City has officially signed 19-year-old defender Vitor Reis from Brazilian club Palmeiras for £29.6 million. Reis, who has made 22 appearances for Palmeiras and represented Brazil's U17 team, signed a four-and-a-half-year deal and is City's second January signing. Due to key injuries in defense, including losing Rodri for the season, City insisted on securing Reis immediately. This acquisition comes at a crucial time, as they struggled with just one win in 13 matches before recently bouncing back with four victories in five, including a 6-0 win against Ipswich Town.
This is a dream come true, since I was a young kid I've always dreamed of an opportunity just like this one and to play for a club as big as City.
The magnitude of Manchester City, its history and its structure. When the door knocked, and it was Manchester City, I knew there wasn't anywhere else to go.
Working with Pep Guardiola is something every young player wants to do, and I know he can help me to develop into the best player I can be.
We've had an unprecedented run of one victory in 13 matches - Pep Guardiola's worst in his coaching career.
