Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a fatal hit-and-run on the R156 at Batterstown, Ballivor, Co Meath shortly before 10am on Friday 12 September 2025. Emergency services responded to a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene. The male cyclist, aged in his 80s, was found unresponsive and taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he was later pronounced dead. The R156 is closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Road users with camera footage between 9.30am and 10.00am in the area are asked to provide it, and Gardaí seek information on heavy goods vehicle movements.
