Emergency services were alerted shortly before 1am last Thursday after reports of an assault in the Temple Bar Square area and found the man with serious injuries. The man had been socialising in the area prior to the attack. Gardaí from Pearse Street station arrested a male in his 20s on Friday 29th August 2025 and he is detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Investigations are ongoing.

A man was arrested today by Gardaí from Pearse Street station who continue to investigate the serious assault that occurred in the Temple Bar area of Dublin city centre in the early hours of Thursday morning, August 21. "This afternoon, Friday 29th August 2025, Gardaí arrested a male in his 20s in connection with this investigation. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.
