'Major conflict' looms as poll shows public back opposition over Dail speaking rights row
Briefly

A recent poll indicates that disapproval of Michael Lowry's arrangement has grown to 66%, with significant dissent from supporters of both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. Only 41% of Fianna Fáil supporters endorse the government's handling of recent controversies, highlighting dissatisfaction. Tensions over speaking time in the Dáil could lead to more conflict, as opposition members prepare for a potential stand-off. Government and opposition leaders are set to meet before the Dáil reconvenes, trying to avert a larger dispute among lawmakers.
Most Independent supporters also back the opposition, with 64pc saying they are on their side. It seems to me, most likely, we're back into a huge conflict at the start of business on Wednesday.
Over a third of Fine Gael supporters said they are also on the opposition's side in the row. There are other things you could do, you could do a walkout, but essentially, not to allow business as usual to proceed.
