Library closed after asbestos is found
Briefly

Pinner Library in Harrow is set to reopen following the removal of asbestos, although no specific date has been announced. The library was already closed for maintenance until January 29, but this will now extend until the asbestos is cleared. Harrow Council assures the public that the asbestos did not pose an immediate threat, yet they remain committed to ensuring safety. No fines will be charged for books during the closure, and residents can renew them online. The council expresses regret over the inconvenience caused by the delay in reopening.
The library was temporarily closed while we removed asbestos found in the panelling, before work on the roof could take place. There was no danger to the public.
Harrow Council has a duty of care to remedy the situation but has given assurances that the asbestos did not pose a threat to the public.
