In the stellar new film Anora, director Sean Baker homes in on a specific species of clown genealogy: the henchmen, buffoonish yes-men who begrudgingly follow orders.
Anora follows an exotic dancer who falls in love with a wealthy client, with the story taking a turn for the comedic once they marry in Vegas.
The film introduces three of the goddamn funniest goons you've ever seen onscreen, each with unique traits that add humor to their lowly status in the criminal hierarchy.
Goons are often my favorite characters in any medium, and Anora's portrayal of these mob grunts delivers comedic highlights reminiscent of classic performances in shows like The Sopranos.
