Kinetic's Free Speed Upgrades Benefitted 26,000 Customers in 2024
Briefly

Windstream's Kinetic business has successfully implemented its "Project Gas Pedal," providing free internet speed upgrades to around 26,000 customers last year. Launched in 2018, the initiative has facilitated over 314,000 upgrades, averaging 10 megabits per household. Kinetic’s focus is on enhancing internet service quality by making speed upgrades based on available technology at customers' homes. The project emphasizes Kinetic's dedication to community support through reliable connectivity and aims to extend infrastructure in rural areas, despite observing a recent decline in annual upgrades due to reduced copper cable customers.
Kinetic is proud to offer these free upgrades as part of our ongoing commitment to deliver the best possible service to our customers.
Through Gas Pedal, we're not only improving internet speeds but also reinforcing our promise to support our communities with reliable and fast connectivity.
Kinetic provided speed upgrades for a cumulative total of more than 1.3 million Mbps, the equivalent of 1 million 10-second Snapchats or 8 million emails.
The number of annual upgrades is now beginning to decline with a decrease in the number of customers served by copper cables.
