Judi Dench, 90, says she's never been good at going out on her own
Briefly

Dame Judi Dench, at 90, expressed her discomfort in attending events alone during the 'Fearless' podcast. Her deteriorating eyesight, due to macular degeneration, exacerbates her anxiety about navigating public venues unaccompanied. Dench relies on herself or her agent for support, admitting, "I have to now because I can't see." Additionally, her photographic memory has been undermined, making script reading increasingly challenging. She has openly contemplated retirement, acknowledging the limitations that her vision loss imposes on her illustrious acting career.
I'm not good at that at all, nor would I be now. I have to now because I can't see, and I will walk into something or fall over.
Fortunately, I don't have to go out alone now because I pretend to have no eyesight.
It has become impossible, and because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page.
Despite a career spanning almost seven decades, Dench has hinted at retirement due to her worsening vision.
