Jonathan Micallef Got Hard-Fought Fight He Was Expecting at UFC 312
Briefly

Jonathan Micallef made an impressive debut at UFC 312, scoring a win against Kevin Jousset in front of a home crowd. The fight was challenging, with Micallef nearly finishing Jousset in the first round. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed gratitude for the ease of UFC operations and acknowledged the intense preparation leading to the fight. Micallef recognized the potential danger in the fifth round, admitting Jousset landed solid strikes, but his strong defense kept him in control. He anticipated a hard-fought battle and aimed for a Fight of the Night bonus, which aligned with his mental strategy.
This week's been different to most, because obviously we've got the UFC going, first fight in the UFC. They just make everything so easy, so it's been a really cruise-y week, it's been nice.
The fight itself was hard-fought, definitely hard-fought but it was sort of what we were expecting. In that first round, I knocked him down and almost had the finish, maybe I got a little too overzealous there.
He cracked me a few times with some good shots, but I was defensively sound thankfully. If one or two of those got through, it could have been real different.
Like I said, be prepared for that, and you're not surprised when it comes. And that's exactly what happened tonight.
