A former producer of "The Jerry Springer Show," Norm Lubow, revealed controversial insights into the show's behind-the-scenes culture, stating that producers often acted as facilitators for host Jerry Springer's personal desires. During an interview, Lubow claimed that their primary task was finding guests who could also engage in romantic encounters with Springer, illustrating a troubling blend of entertainment and exploitation. This approach, Lubow noted, both defined the show's infamous reputation and contributed to its longevity. The producers aimed to ensure engaging content by managing guest interactions before and after filming.
"I realized right away that the most important thing was not finding guests, but finding women for Jerry," Lubow stated, reflecting on his role in the production.
"When we were first hired Jerry came out to meet us in LA and picked us up in a limo. The first thing Jerry said to us was, 'I want to get laid, where are the hookers?'" Lubow recalled, emphasizing the explicit nature of the show's culture.
