Drew Goins, a Hawaii-based journalist, competed in the 2025 Champions Wildcard tournament of "Jeopardy!" but missed a question about Celine Dion despite earlier shouting her out. When asked about the question referencing Dion, Goins panicked and failed to answer, leading to a humorous interaction with host Ken Jennings. Later, he explained that he was born in 1994, the year Dion's hit was released. He finished as the runner-up in the tournament, taking home $40,000, and is set to compete in the Tournament of Champions in February 2025.
"John the producer suggested, long story, that I thank Céline Dion. So, thank you, Céline Dion," he said on Friday's episode, before bowing and looking into the camera.
"Oh, she's going to be mad, Drew," Jennings joked before the contestant left the podium and pretended to leave the stage.
"I was born in 1994!" Goins explained why he wouldn't be able to remember that song on the charts.
As runner-up, he is set to battle in the upcoming Tournament of Champions, and is playing in the quarterfinals on Feb. 3.
