I've gone on over 25 cruises. There are 8 types of rooms I'd never book - and one I swear by.
Briefly

Having taken over 25 cruises, I've come to realize the importance of choosing the right cabin on a cruise ship. After numerous experiences, I learned that specific stateroom locations can significantly impact my comfort level. For example, while aft cabins offer beautiful views, they can also cause excessive rocking and noise due to their proximity to the ship's engines. Consequently, I now prioritize strategic cabin choices to ensure quieter nights and smoother sails.
I purposefully avoid cabins adjacent to elevators, gyms, or theaters because they can lead to disturbances from loud crowds or performances. Soundproofing varies greatly among cruise lines and ship types, meaning sound pollution can be a real issue if you're near such busy areas. The initial allure of being close to entertainment loses its charm when faced with constant noise, ultimately affecting my overall cruise experience.
