Natalia Arroyo, Aston Villa's new head coach, celebrated her first victory after a 3-2 win over Brighton in the Women's FA Cup, following a challenging start to the season. This win serves as a hopeful foundation for the team's rejuvenated confidence, especially after a disappointing first half of the campaign and the exit of previous manager Robert de Pauw. Arroyo, a former footballer with experience in coaching, aims to instill a possession-based game plan and high pressing into her side as they look to regain form in the league.
"It wasn't that difficult for the journalists, probably. It's always more difficult when somebody scores in the last minute, those are the craziest ones to write!"
"It's something to start from, with more hope, more confidence, and I'm happy for the win," said Arroyo, celebrating the victory with her team.
"We want to have possession and press as high as possible when we don't have the ball," Arroyo stated about her tactical approach moving forward.
"Villa were 9-0 winners at home to lower-league Bristol Rovers... but there have been few other happy days for Villa this season."
