The 13-month war between Israel and Hezbollah has killed more than 3,000 people in Lebanon, with casualties more than double from the last major conflict two decades ago.
The conflict dramatically escalated on Sept. 23 with intense Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, resulting in hundreds dead and displacing nearly 1.2 million people.
Israel began a ground invasion of south Lebanon on Oct. 1, aiming to destroy Hezbollah command centers and an extensive tunnel system, but making little territorial gain.
Hezbollah began firing rockets into northern Israel immediately after Hamas' surprise attack on Oct. 7, which ignited the broader conflict in Gaza.
