New York Sen. Chuck Schumer announced a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas intended to halt the prolonged conflict and facilitate hostages' release.
The agreement, according to an Israeli government spokesperson, includes provisions for the release of 33 hostages, mainly women, children, the elderly, and sick individuals.
Despite the cease-fire, a total of 98 hostages remain in captivity, with serious concerns regarding the wellbeing of at least 34 who are believed to have died.
The Israeli government may release hundreds of jailed Palestinians as part of the terms, emphasizing a willingness to pay a heavy price for peace.
