Is Trump's Paper-Straw Ban Really About His Shark Phobia?
Briefly

President Trump recently issued an executive order to halt the federal government's use of paper straws in buildings, claiming they are ineffective. His reasoning reflected personal experience, mentioning that paper straws frequently fail with hot liquids. This decision appears to be part of Trump's ongoing opposition to environmental policies initiated by the Biden administration aimed at reducing single-use plastics. Trump's commentary implied a dismissal of environmental concerns regarding plastics, reflecting deeper political motivations behind his actions.
These things don't work. I've had them many times, and on occasion they break, they explode; if something's hot, they don't last very long, like a matter of minutes, sometimes a matter of seconds. It's a ridiculous situation.
The move by Trump... targets a Biden administration policy to phase out federal purchases of single-use plastics, including straws, from food service operations, events and packaging by 2027.
I don't think that plastic's going to affect a shark very much as they're munching their way through the ocean.
