San Francisco is struggling with a growing fentanyl crisis, particularly along Sixth Street, where business owners report a significant increase in chaos and drug use.
"I've been here for 14 years and I've never seen it this bad…In the middle of San Francisco, Sixth Street has been ceded to junkies," said Tadd Cordell, a local nightclub owner.
Police Chief William Scott confirmed the decline in conditions on Sixth Street, stating, "It's bad. There's no mistake about it," highlighting the urgent need for action.
Efforts to clean up areas like UN Plaza have unintentionally pushed drug users and dealers to Sixth Street, indicating a displacement crisis rather than a solution.
