In Minnesota, a no-strings-attached cash programme for artists is gaining momentum

Springboard for the Arts has expanded its guaranteed income initiative, increasing participants from 75 to 100, with payments now lengthened to 5 years totaling $30,000.

Ricardo Beaird highlighted that artists represent a targeted community that will benefit from guaranteed income, referring to it as "a start" for a larger movement supporting vulnerable populations.

The programme provides artists not only with financial support but also with essential services like personal finance guidance and housing assistance, mitigating the pressures of artistic endeavors.

Funded by private foundations, Springboard for the Arts uses no public funds, while similar programs across the country like Creatives Rebuild New York support artists through guaranteed payments.
