ICE arrests paroled man who murdered pregnant girlfriend in Lawrence
Briefly

Cesar Augusto Polanco, convicted in 2007 for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend Judith Guevara in Lawrence, Massachusetts, was arrested by ICE after serving his life sentence. He originally entered the U.S. lawfully in 1990 but later violated immigration terms. The murder occurred during a domestic dispute when Guevara was fatally beaten in front of her children. Following his release, ICE issued a detainer, leading to his impending deportation to the Dominican Republic, emphasizing concerns about his threat to public safety.
"Polanco came to this country lawfully; however, his horrendous actions have deemed him a significant threat to the residents here," said acting ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Field Office Director Patricia Hyde.
"That evening, Mr. Polanco and Ms. Guevara argued about him going out to drink. The argument turned physical, and Mr. Polanco beat Ms. Guevara to death," according to a statement from a December 2024 parole meeting.
