ICC prosecutor seeks arrest warrants over accusations of Darfur atrocities
Briefly

The international criminal court prosecutor, Karim Khan, is seeking arrest warrants for individuals accused of genocide and atrocities against civilians in Sudan's Darfur region. He emphasized an alarming acceleration of criminal acts, particularly targeting women and vulnerable populations. There are strong parallels to the historical injustices experienced in Darfur, notably the patterns of violence committed by similar groups as seen twenty years ago. This current conflict, sparked in April 2023, has already devastated communities, drawing stark comparisons with the brutal legacy of the infamous Janjaweed militias.
Criminality is accelerating in Darfur. Civilians are being targeted, women and girls are subjected to sexual violence, and entire communities are left in destruction.
There are very clear echoes now of what happened 20 years ago...the same communities, the same groups suffering, a new generation suffering the same hell.
The pattern of crimes, the perpetrators, the parties, tracked very closely with the same protagonists, the same targeted groups as existed in 2003.
