The offences occurred at various addresses in County Sligo and spanned a period of two decades. Five children were subjected to repeated sexual abuse by their father. Victims were confined in a room for days at a time, deprived of food and forced to drink urine. The combination of prolonged confinement, brutality and sexual abuse created severe physical and psychological harm for the children. A custodial sentence of 20 years was imposed.
