Noel Farrell, aged 70, was convicted and sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for sexually abusing five of his children. The children, four daughters and one son, were routinely confined to a room for days without food and were forced to drink urine. Farrell pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to several sample counts of sexual abuse. The offences occurred at multiple addresses in Co Sligo and spanned over two decades. The sentence addresses prolonged sexual violence combined with severe neglect and degradation inflicted on the victims.
