'I was a bit of a square' - Tanaiste Micheal Martin when asked if he ever smoked cannabis in college

Fianna Fáil's leader supports decriminalizing drug possession for personal use in Ireland, aligning with the Citizens' Assembly's proposal for a health-focused approach. However, Class A drugs may be excluded.

When asked about cannabis on campus during his college years, an honest Mr. Martin noted, "there was cannabis on campus... but not as much back then" and admitted to enjoying a few pints instead.

Mr. Martin expressed surprise at Fine Gael's concerns regarding decriminalizing personal drug use, stating, "I was very surprised that Taoiseach Simon Harris is now saying they are 'very concerned' about the decriminalisation."

Responding to whether he would partake in cannabis if his party legalized it, Mr. Martin firmly declared, "Not at all, no. No interest," emphasizing his personal choice against drug use.
