During a recent trip to Venice with my children, I made several travel mistakes that I wish I had avoided. Despite being an experienced traveler, I opted not to do thorough research, leading to regrettable choices. We stayed on Murano Island instead of the main Venice island, resulting in time-consuming ferry rides. Additionally, our gondola ride was disappointing, crowded with boats rather than an intimate experience. I also wish I had more insight into the best dining options available, emphasizing the need for proper planning in essential aspects of travel.
Like many visitors to Venice, I was convinced the highlight of our trip would be being paddled through the city's serene canals by a gondolier. However, our gondola ride was anything but the bespoke experience I'd been dreaming of.
We had to take ferry rides to get from there to the main island of Venice and back throughout our trip, which ate into our travel time and budget.
