Hurricane Milton, initially a Category 3, has severely impacted Florida, leaving over 2.8 million without power and causing evacuations amidst life-threatening storm surges and record rainfall.
With life-threatening storm surges of up to 13 feet in the Sarasota area and record rainfall of 16 inches in Saint Petersburg, Hurricane Milton changed the landscape and put lives at risk.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency urging residents of Tampa, St. Petersburg, Riverview, and Palmetto to seek higher ground amid a particularly dangerous situation.
The chaotic evacuations prior to Milton's landfall have caused severe gridlock as up to seven million people sought safety, leaving them uncertain about the status of their homes.
