The financial situation in county cricket has dramatically improved following the England and Wales Cricket Board’s substantial fundraising through the sale of stakes in The Hundred teams. With around 400 million raised, counties, even those without a team in The Hundred, stand to gain significant funds, enhancing their financial prospects. This investment is aimed at recapping the county game, ensuring sustainability for the next decades, while private investment is set to alter the fabric of English cricket permanently.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has raised around 400m by selling 49% stakes in six of the Hundred's eight teams, changing the financial landscape of county cricket.
With 10% of the proceeds promised to grassroots initiatives, all counties will benefit financially, despite only a few having teams in the Hundred.
