The German coalition government has prioritized easing skilled worker laws, responding to a growing shortfall of skilled workers, which is increasing by around 400,000 each year.
The Chancenkarte allows non-EU nationals with qualifications to come to Germany for a year to seek employment or further training, aiming to fill labor market gaps.
Despite hopes for 30,000 applications annually for the Chancenkarte, reports indicate that actual applications may fall significantly short of these expectations.
The government has also eased citizenship rules, allowing dual citizenship to encourage foreigners to settle in Germany long-term, enhancing the overall labor pool.
